Jeff Storey, aka Jay Pinkeye, deceased, artist who made totem poles, jewelry, belts began his career as a surfer, and drilled a hole in a turquoise nugget put it on leather and that was the beginning of his jewelry career. Known for 6ft or larger totem poles, complexd sets of jewelry as this one. Jeff was a miner and silver worker. This set which consists of bolo, earrings, pin and carved buffalo on a base of rock with a shard from an old pottery. The bolo is a drop in bolo which means you put it inside the top button of shirt. The bolo skirt was made from an old beaded Indian something, and the earrings are also made from that. The pin with sterling silver is sometimes known as "Buffalo Turquoise" however it's a white gemstone, primarily composed of magnesite and alumite, with black chert inclusions. It's found in the Dry Creek Mine in Nevada. The bolo figure is sterling silver and looks great nestled inside the collar of shirt. The carved buffalo is missing one horn, which is sterling silver by the way. A pottery shard and another rock compose the rest of the stand. A work of art, and the work of a very unique individual. Acutal bolo is appx 11” tall or 279mm and appx 2 7/8” wide or appx 71mm at the widest point of the skirt. Natural patine with age. Vintage. (Recommend a dome type container to keep the pieces all together like the photo.)
